Money Management

Dh has a goal that we have 100K in cash 8 years from now. This is in addition to the EF and to retirement savings and college funds. It's one of the goals we're going to be starting on in January, deciding on figures for retirement, college, EF as well. We have all these funds but he wants a more hard and fast saving plan/goal starting this year.

Do you separate the way you save for these things? Or like my dh, have you changed to focusing on cash savings vs. retirement savings because you no longer trust the banking industry?
